Fernando Poe Jr Profile

Fernando Poe Jr Profile

➢ The late Fernando Poe Jr or FPJ was born Ronald Allan Kelley Poe on August 20, 1939 in Manila Philippines. Known as the Action King, Poe was an icon in the Philippine cinema considered to be one of its greatest actors. He starred in critically-acclaimed films like Mga Alabok ng Lupa (1967), Asedillo (1971), Durugin si Totoy Bato, Umpisahan Mo, Tatapusin Ko (1983), and Muslim Magnum .357 (1987). FPJ also popularized the cult-classic Ang Panday film series, Kahit Konting Pagtingin, Dito sa Pitong Gatang, Aguila, Ang Probinsyano, Iyo ang Tondo kanya ang Cavite (1986), and Ang Dalubhasa.

Poe started as a messenger boy in the film industry after he dropped-out from high school to support his family when his father died. Later on, he was given roles as actor and stuntman in some movies. His first lead role came in Anak ni Palaris (Son of Palaris) when he was 14. However, it was in the movie Lo Waist Gang where his star shined. He also shared lead role in international film The Ravagers. As his cult-following grew, he was later named the "King of Philippine Movies" or shortened as Da King or Action King. He had also accumulated the majority of Best Actor accolades in the history of FAMAS Awards.
He also dabbled in film direction under the name Ronwaldo Reyes. He directed nine films in all. Poe later founded FPJ Productions in 1961. Posthumuosly, he received the National Artist of the Philippines for Film award from former President Benigno Aquino III on July 20, 2012.
Political Career of Fernando Poe Jr.
Poe is unofficially the President of the Republic of the Philippines to a majority of Filipino voters. He ran for President in the 2004 Presidential elections but lost to Gloria Macapagal Arroyo via a slim margin of votes. However, it was later revealed that massive cheating was conducted in the ARMM and Mindanao region (remember the Hello Garci scandal?), particularly Maguindanao (a vote-rich territory), where he had very few votes. The same happened in Pangasinan province. Poe hailed from Pangasinan and was too popular in the Mindanao region to have had minimal votes. The NAMFREL quick-count showed a 34.3% vs. 56.5% in favor of Poe in the ARMM, but the final COMELEC canvass favored Arroyo with a 62% vs. 31% final tally. It was prima facie evidence of electoral cheating in the ARMM. As of present time, no action has been iniated by the PET or the SC to grant the presidency to the late actor posthumously.

Jose Rizal Profile

Jose Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda, popularly known as national hero Jose Rizal, was born on June 19, 1861 in Calamba, Laguna. Rizal was the key leader of the propagandist movement, with his literary works and unjust execution serving as the catalyst for the subsequent revolution and eventual Philippine independence from Spain. He was a writer, an opthalmologist, a polymath, and a Filipino patriot.

His popular works included novels which pushed for political reforms and recognition of the Filipino, namely El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere and several literary pieces. He was unjustly accused and summarily executed by the Spanish government in Bagumbayan Manila on December 30, 1896 by firing squad.
Personal Life of Jose Rizal
➢ Rizal was the seventh born of the eleven children in the Rizal family. His Filipino parents Francisco Mercado and Teodora Realonda were rich farmers in Calamba Laguna and had Chinese-Spanish lineage. Fondly called "Pepe", Jose learned to read and write at an early age of five. Historian Austin Craig also claimed that Rizal was a descendant of Lakandula, the famed Rajah of Tondo from the pre-colonial era.

Due to the order of Governor General Francisco Claveria, Jose's Father Francisco Mercado was forced to adopt the surname Rizal (which meant Green Rice Fields), hence the change to Francisco Mercado Rizal.
